The legacy of agriculture and family tradition was celebrated once again in Wright County, where the Matter Family Farm of Delano was named the 2025 Wright County Farm Family of the Year. In a ceremony held earlier this week, the Wright County commissioners adopted a resolution that not only highlighted the Matter Family Farm's present achievements but also honored its historical roots, as reported by Wright County. Established in 1856 when Joseph Matter first cleared a field to start what would become a multi-generational endeavor.

The Matter Farm has since seen seven generations of the Matter family toil and thrive on the same land, through adversity and change. Parents Paul and Aumori, alongside their sons Ben and Alex, carry on this storied lineage, as per Wright County. Wright County maintains a tradition of celebrating its agricultural heritage through the Farm Family Recognition Program, a tradition overseen by the University of Minnesota Extension that dates back to 1979.
The beloved farm, now primarily known for its maple syrup production, has evolved over the years, adapting to the demands of both time and market. The Matter Family's efforts will be honored yet again at two upcoming regional events: Farmfest and the Wright County Fair.
