The streets of Medford will be lined with polished chrome and classic curves as the 40th annual Medford Cruise gears up to bring together automobile aficionados this weekend. As a longstanding tradition, the event is set to start on Saturday, June 14, with the Show ‘N Shine car show at Fichtner-Mainwaring Park, according to an announcement on the City of Medford's official website. Starting at 11:00 a.m. and running until 4:00 p.m., the showcase welcomes hundreds of vehicles from various categories.
Lovers of roar and rumble can look forward to the main cruising event later in the day, which will literally transform downtown Medford into a parade of horsepower from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. To accommodate the event, traffic will need to navigate carefully through the expected partial and full road closures. Notable streets affected include Central Avenue, 2nd Street, 6th Street, West Main Street, and Front Street, with full closures slated to take place from approximately 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. For those whose vehicles meet the unfortunate fate of being towed, the Medford Police Department is the go-to for retrieval information.
Competition will be as heated as the engines on display, with judges setting their sights on three featured vehicles in five categories: Chevy/GM, Ford, MOPAR, '80 & Newer, and All Other. "Best in Show" will be among the accolades, with several additional trophies up for grabs.
The Medford Cruise didn't just spontaneously combust into existence; it started back in 1985, driven by a vision to connect car lovers and to give back to the community. The engines of generosity have been running ever since, with the event contributing over $600,000 to local youth organizations over the past 39 years.
