Memphis police are currently reaching out to the public for assistance after a business robbery took place earlier this week at a Walgreens on the famed Elvis Presley Boulevard. The incident, occurring at about 7:10 p.m. on Monday, involved a single male suspect who robbed the store at gunpoint. The criminal act unfolded as the suspect approached the register with two gift cards and displayed a weapon, enforcing his demand for cash from the store employee. Details provided by the Memphis Police Department indicate that the employee complied, handing over more than $400.
The suspect has been described as a thin Black male in his mid-20s, standing at approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall. During the robbery, he was attired in a black ski mask, a white t-shirt, black pants, and black shoes, and was seen carrying a black crossbody bag. The weapon used was reported to be a black and chrome gun. After the robbery, the suspect was seen to quickly flee the scene on foot. As this investigation moves swiftly to apprehend the individual responsible, authorities are urging anyone with information to promptly come forward.
In the wake of the robbery, there has been no physical harm reported, yet the psychological impact on employees and nearby community members is being closely monitored. Currently, efforts are being focused on collecting any potential evidence, including surveillance footage and witness testimonies, to aid in the speedy capture of the suspect. The Memphis Police Department has opened a dedicated line for tips at Crime Stoppers, reachable at 528-CASH, and emphasizes the importance of community assistance in such cases.
