Last Friday morning, the stretch of Poplar Avenue was disrupted by a brazen burglary at Sunrise East. According to the Memphis Police Department's report, two individuals orchestrated a break-in at 5469 Poplar Avenue at approximately 4:01 a.m. The suspects arrived and departed the crime scene in a black Nissan sedan.
The Memphis Police Department has released details of a break-in that they say was executed with precision. One suspect, described as large in build and dressed entirely in black, acted as a lookout while the other—wearing a blue hoodie and black pants—used a crowbar to force entry into the building. Investigators believe the suspects’ movements suggest prior experience or a strong familiarity with the area during late hours. According to MPD, the calculated intrusion was only halted by either a triggered alarm or the timely intervention of an observant passerby.
Following the break-in, the Memphis Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at (901) 528-CASH or submit a tip online.
