Memphis residents should note a change in the trash pickup schedule. The City of Memphis has announced that government offices will be closed on July 4 in observance of Independence Day. As a result, there will be no trash collection by Solid Waste Management on the holiday.
Residents with regular Friday trash collection are asked to place their carts out on Thursday, July 3. For those with pickup scheduled between Monday and Thursday, no changes are expected and collection will proceed as usual. In contracted areas served by Team Waste, Friday service will be delayed by one day and will take place on Saturday instead.
The city also reminds residents to have their carts at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection day. While this may seem early, the announcement emphasizes that timely placement helps ensure a smooth and efficient pickup.
During the week of July 4, services for excess trash and yard waste will be limited for customers. Residents are encouraged to reduce waste or consider visiting a local dump if they have additional trash. Those planning cookouts or gatherings should take these changes into account to prevent any buildup of post-event debris.
