Miami Beach is going all out to celebrate America's 249th birthday, and the lineup for this year's festivities includes everything from family zones to fireworks and a drone show. According to an announcement by the City of Miami Beach, revelers can kick off their Independence Day celebration at North Beach's Altos Del Mar Park, beginning at 5 p.m., where they'll be able to indulge in food trucks, tunes, and a host of activities perfect for every age.

The family zone is packed with fun, featuring a rock-climbing wall, obstacle course, and giant yard games for non-stop entertainment until the main events: stunning fireworks and a high-tech drone show lighting up the beachfront at 9 p.m. Plus, the Miami Beach Bandshell will turn into a free pop-up roller disco, where "Bring your own skates or blades" is the rule of the night, though locals with I.D. can score a free pair, thanks to the city’s generosity. The City of Miami Beach detailed that a performance by Assistant Chief Daniel Morgalo will precede opening remarks from the Mayor before the night sky takes center stage.

Down in South Beach, things kick off a bit later at 8:30 p.m., with a concert by the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival, setting a patriotic tone before fireworks burst overhead. The City of Miami Beach, alongside the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Ocean Drive Association, will be orchestrating this showstopper of an evening, beckoning attendees to claim a spot at alfresco dining venues or spread a beach blanket to enjoy the spectacular up close.

Getting to the events will be hassle-free, with free trolley service running until 11 p.m. and Freebee vehicles available for convenient transportation. To avoid traffic delays—especially with westbound 5 Street reduced to one lane due to construction—biking is encouraged. "Don’t have a bike?" Citi Bikes are available for rent to support eco-friendly travel. The city reminds attendees: "Personal fireworks, Styrofoam, drones, glass containers and alcoholic beverages are prohibited." Boaters are also advised that Monument Island will be closed during the event to help protect the area, as noted by the city's website.

"Independence Day reminds us that freedom isn’t free, it was earned through courage, sacrifice, and an unshakeable belief in the founding ideals of this country," Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner told the City of Miami Beach.
