Miami-Dade County is set to unveil the latest chapter in its ongoing parks revitalization mission with the opening of new facilities at Chapman Field Park. On Friday, June 6 at 10 a.m., Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, District 7 Commissioner Raquel A. Regalado, and Miami-Dade Parks Director Christina White will be present for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebrating the park's enhancements that include a multipurpose athletic field and a new junior T-ball field, as per the county's website.
Chapman Field’s recent upgrades went beyond adding new recreational amenities. A major focus of the project was environmental restoration, including extensive remediation to address site contamination. Additionally, the park underwent strategic elevation work to raise ground levels—an important measure to mitigate the long-term threat of sea-level rise and ensure the new facilities are built on secure, resilient terrain. Located at 13601 Deering Bay Drive in Coral Gables, the Chapman Field celebration will also highlight the vital role urban green spaces play in promoting community well-being and ecological resilience.
