
Early Monday morning, the Milford Police Department Patrol Division responded to a call from Milford Hospital regarding a male patient with a significant hand injury. Following the investigation, police have arrested 39-year-old Claudnei Leonidio Batista on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The alleged assault took place at an East Main St. residence in Milford, where the victim, who knew the attacker, suffered a large laceration to his hand.
According to a post by the Milford Police on social media, officers visited the hospital at approximately 2:03 AM to interview the victim about the incident. With the details they were able to gather, they proceeded to quickly locate the scene of the crime. At 4:55 AM, patrol officers arrived at the residence and found evidence to support the victim's account, noticing a scattering of dry blood around the apartment and a shattered glass believed to have been the weapon used in the attack.
As a result of their findings, Batista was arrested and is currently facing charges. The Milford Police provided a contact for further inquiries, directing them to [email protected].
