Minneapolis Police Department officers from the 3rd Precinct responded to a shots-fired call on the 3000 block of Longfellow Ave, as detailed in a recent social media post by the department. The incident resulted in a search leading to the apprehension of three individuals and the recovery of multiple pieces of evidence, including a stolen handgun and suspected narcotics.
During their search of the area following the call, the officers noticed three individuals in close proximity, one armed with a handgun, upon their approach, the trio attempted to evade law enforcement, one suspect throwing the firearm over a fence the officers, undeterred, swiftly established a perimeter, and managed to detain all three. Recovered at the scene were a stolen handgun, spent shell casings, and what the police suspect to be narcotics on one of the suspects.
All three suspects were taken into custody as the Minneapolis Police Department lauded the actions of its officers. Their social media update highlighted the situation, saying, "Excellent work by our officers for their quick response and teamwork in getting dangerous individuals and illegal weapons off the street."
