Minneapolis Police Department's 1st Precinct Community Response Team (CRT) recently arrested an armed suspect following a tip from an informant, according to an update on the police department's Facebook page. The report details how CRT officers were alerted to the presence of a potentially armed man near 6th Street and Cedar Avenue South.

Last week's incident quickly escalated as CRT officers conducting surveillance at 17th Street and Chicago Avenue South identified a male suspect matching the informant's description. The confrontation led to a chase, first on a scooter and then on foot, as the suspect darted into the 3rd Precinct. He ultimately abandoned his vehicle in an attempt to flee but was apprehended shortly thereafter. "After a brief foot chase, officers safely took the suspect into custody," the Minneapolis Police Department stated.

"Following the arrest, the suspect reported ingesting fentanyl and was transported to the hospital for medical evaluation," the post from the Minneapolis Police Department read. Upon being cleared by medical staff, he was subsequently booked into Hennepin County Jail.
