The Modesto Police Department announced on social media that National Night Out will take place on August 5. The event encourages community participation and builds relationships between residents and law enforcement. It is part of a nationwide initiative involving more than 38 million people across all 50 states, U.S. territories, and military bases, as reported by the Modesto Police Department.
National Night Out, supported by national sponsors including NATW, 7-Eleven, ADT, AT&T, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar, is an annual event aimed at promoting community engagement and public safety. Residents are encouraged to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors, and participate in neighborhood events such as block parties, potlucks, and youth activities. Local emergency services are expected to take part in the event by visiting various neighborhoods, as stated by the Modesto Police Department.
According to the Modesto Police Department on their Facebook page, residents have until July 25 to register their neighborhood parties for National Night Out. Registration can be completed online or by contacting the department’s Crime Prevention Unit by email or phone. National Project Coordinator Matt Peskin said, “This is a night for our nation to stand together and promote awareness, safety and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement. When law enforcement and the community work closely together, some amazing things can happen.”
