According to the California Highway Patrol's San Francisco division, a motorcyclist who triggered a pursuit on the Bay Bridge was captured earlier this week after an attempted escape that ended on a Berkeley rooftop. The chase began when the rider was spotted performing a wheelie across lanes, prompting CHP Motor Officer A. Davis to initiate a pursuit.

Despite eventually pressing speeds over 100 mph and driving in a manner that compelled Ofcr. Davis to halt the chase, the suspect continued to evade. Dispatched helicopter support from CHP Golden Gate kept tabs on the suspect, who had returned to his Berkeley residence and tried, futilely, to conceal his motorcycle.

In a social media post by CHP San Francisco, they recounted the incident, remarking that the motorcyclist waved at Officer Davis before speeding away, prompting the response from authorities. The helicopter unit observed as the suspect, without realizing, pushed his motorcycle out of sight, then sprinted across rooftops in a vain attempt to evade capture.

The Berkeley Police Department converged on the scene and detained the individual, who was turned over to Officer Davis. With neither a license plate nor current registration, the motorcycle was also impounded. "The freeways, highways, bridges, county roads, and public roadways are not a raceway or a movie set for your own personal enjoyment," the CHP San Francisco stated, underscoring the responsibility of road users to operate vehicles safely and within legal parameters.
