A tragic incident unfolded at Percy Priest Lake in Hamilton Creek Park when five-year-old Tobias Henock lost his life to an apparent accidental drowning on Tuesday evening. As reported by the Nashville Police Department, the young boy went underwater and was submerged for several minutes before he was found by family members.
At approximately 6:52 p.m., Hermitage Precinct officers arrived at the scene to find that Tobias' family members were already performing CPR. Officers then took over the resuscitation efforts until the Nashville Fire Department arrived. The boy was subsequently transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to the police report, Tobias had been missing for several minutes before his father discovered him in the water.
Youth Services detectives are now following up on the case, with the drowning appearing to be accidental. In incidents such as these, a thorough investigation is standard procedure to ensure that all factors leading up to the drowning are fully understood and addressed appropriately to prevent future tragedies.
