The Nashville Davidson County Register of Deeds office is gearing up to temporarily close its doors to the public this week, with a notice announcing a two-day shutdown tomorrow and on Thursday, to put finishing touches on their renovation's Phase II. This phase brings a set of upgrades including handicapped ramps, a finalized elevator installation, and various other construction tasks, as reported by County Register Karen Johnson, as detailed by Nashville.gov.
In consideration of the inconvenience this might bring, Johnson said, "Construction is going well and we’re excited to see things coming together at our new location. Ensuring our customers receive quality and efficient services remains our priority while construction is ongoing and we regret any inconvenience caused by the closing," according to the same statement. The office has made it clear that they are working swiftly to complete to fully re-open the office in July.
The revamped lower level of the Register of Deeds is slated to offer a range of services once it opens to the public again. Among these will be a new Veterans ID booth, set to provide identification cards as an alternative to the private DD214 documents for veterans. The service enhancements are aimed to streamline processes and improve accessibility for all visitors.
Adding to the accessibility efforts, the office revealed plans for an opening event likely to be held in early August after completion of the upgrades. The 'Open House' will provide the community an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new and upgraded services. To make the visit as seamless as possible, attendees are to enjoy access to free parking at both Deaderick Street and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. entrances. For more information regarding the location and imaging of the parking areas, patrons can visit the official website, as indicated on the Nashville.gov.
While the physical office may be closing briefly, digital services remain uninterrupted, with E-filing available throughout the construction period. The Register of Deeds office will resume its regular business hours starting from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
