For New Orleans drivers, a heads-up is in order: Starting Sunday, June 22, roadworks are set to impact routes including I-10 and LA 611-9 (City Park Ave/Metairie Rd) due to utility and drainage work. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that westbound I-10's Exit 231-A (Metairie Rd/City Park Ave) will see closure from 9:00 PM until 6:00 AM the next day, starting Sunday night and repeating Monday, as reported by DOTD.
Commuters should anticipate that, weather permitting, the recurring exit closure at Exit 231-A will conclude Tuesday morning, June 24. This temporary inconvenience is essential for drainage work meant to bolster the area's infrastructure; driving alternatives should be considered as the closure will affect nighttime travel—DOTD encourages motorists to keep these scheduled maintenance windows in mind when planning their routes.
Furthermore, both directions of LA 611-9 (City Park Ave/Metairie Rd) are also slated for partial closures. According to DOTD's announcement, starting from tomorrow, June 20 at 11:00 PM, the left lane will be periodically closed and will remain so until Monday, June 23 at 6:00 AM. These lane reductions will stretch from Friday night through Sunday night and are part of the ongoing effort to improve the city's drainage capabilities.
But the disruptions do not end there, with eastbound I-10 also facing a ramp closure at Exit 231-A (Metairie Rd/City Park Ave). The closure is scheduled to take place from Monday, June 23 at 9:00 PM to Tuesday, June 24 at 6:00 AM, aligning with westbound I-10's timeframe, as detailed by the DOTD.
