Newton County is updating its Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) to guide future transportation strategies through 2050. The last major update to the plan was completed in 2017. The revised CTP will assess current transportation conditions, identify future needs, and outline potential projects to improve mobility throughout the county.
According to Newton County’s official website, the CTP will include funding strategies, project timelines, and a long-term vision to support transportation infrastructure and reduce congestion. The plan will also consider roadways, transit, pedestrian, and bicycle systems.
Public input is a key part of the planning process. Residents are encouraged to participate by completing surveys and reviewing project details on the designated portal, MovingNewtonCTP.com.
Once completed, the plan will provide a comprehensive overview of current transportation issues, projected future challenges, and proposed improvement projects. It will include a list of action items to help guide decision-making and implementation through midcentury.
Newton County aims to align its transportation network with anticipated growth and changing mobility needs over the coming decades.
