Travelers passing through Oakland Airport's Terminal 1 now have more shopping options before they jet off. In a recent development, three new retail stores have opened their doors at the airport, bringing a distinctly local flavor. According to the Port of Oakland, Roll East, Oakland Supply Co., and Lake Merritt Essentials are the latest additions to OAK's evolving retail lineup. This trio is part of a broader expansion plan that will see 16 stores operational by year-end.
For Craig Simon, Port of Oakland Director of Aviation, introducing these outlets is a significant stride in the airport's retail program. "We are pleased to announce that seven stores have now opened under our new retail program," Simon relayed, as per Port of Oakland. "It is great to see all the local vendors being featured in our new stores, allowing our passengers to feel the spirit of the Bay Area when they shop OAK. We look forward to the nine more retail openings that are still to come."
Among the new shops is Roll East, which sits snugly between gates 10 and 12 in Terminal 1. The store, influenced by the vibe of the Township Commons at Brooklyn Basin, is stocked with an array of healthy local snacks, beverages, travel gadgets, and Bay Area-themed gifts. Managed by Marshall Retail Group/WHSmith, Roll East embraces the early birds and night owls, operating from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily.
For a taste of Oakland, Lake Merritt Essentials is poised to impress at Gate 1. From snacks to electronics and beauty products, the store mirrors the diversity of its namesake, the iconic Lake Merritt area. Making shopping hassle-free, the outlet features self-checkout, offering the "scan, pay, and go" convenience for those on the fly. The store's aesthetic is enhanced by a mural, "A Sunny Day at Lake Merritt," created by local talent Rachel Martin, and Paradies Lagardère runs it. From 5:00 AM until the last flight calls it a night, or through 9:00 PM, Lake Merritt Essentials caters to all comers.
Finally, Oakland Supply Co. marks its territory in Terminal 2 across from gate 22. Crafted by the folks at Oaklandish, this establishment delivers a curated selection of leather goods, jewelry, apparel, and reading material. Moreover, it proudly displays products from local vendors such as Stash Candle Co. and the Weekend Store. The shop maintains the same visitor-friendly schedule, welcoming customers from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM every day.
