
A tragic incident unfolded in north Phoenix on Thursday evening when a police SUV was involved in a fatal collision. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the crash occurred around 7:20 p.m. at the intersection of Cave Creek and Pinnacle Peak roads. The officer in the police vehicle was injured but expected to survive, while the driver of the other vehicle was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.
Investigators are currently trying to piece together the events that to led up to the collision. As reported by ABC 15, details about the cause have not yet been made available, and the identities of those involved have not been released. What is certain is that the intersection where the incident took place was closed for a period to allow for a thorough investigation.
Evidence from the scene indicated significant damage to both the police SUV and the passenger car involved in the crash. "The officer was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle involved was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition," Phoenix Police Sgt. Rob Scherer told FOX 10 Phoenix. Sadly, the hope for the driver's survival was short-lived as they were soon pronounced dead after arriving at the hospital.
