
An officer was wounded and a man was killed during an exchange of gunfire at a domestic violence incident in El Paso, Texas. According to the El Paso Police Department, the shooting occurred after officers arrived at a residence on the 6400 block of Passo Via following a report of family violence.
Upon their approach, the suspect, identified as Valdiviezo, began firing toward the officers with a handgun. The officers returned fire, striking Valdiviezo multiple times. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. One officer was also shot and is currently in stable condition after being taken to the hospital for treatment. The incident has triggered a multi-agency investigation, with the Crimes Against Persons unit, the Texas Rangers, and the Internal Affairs Shooting Review Team all involved in the ongoing inquiry.
