Oklahoma City's Be Kind Rescue Dogs Foundation will cover all adoption fees at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter on National Dog Party Day. The event, scheduled for June 21, includes a walk with shelter dogs at 10 a.m., followed by the start of adoptions at noon, according to the City of OKC.
The shelter is encouraging the community to participate in the festivities; even if adoption is not an option, they suggest sharing photos of the dogs at the Hawaiian-themed event on social media to promote additional adoptions. "National Dog Party Day is a special day for dogs across the country," Oklahoma City Animal Shelter Superintendent Ronnie Schlabs said in the news release, according to the shelter. The support from Be Kind Rescue Dogs aims to benefit both dogs and adopters while helping reduce overcrowding at the shelter by freeing up kennels for new rescues.
