Middletown Police were the first responders to a scene of violence early this morning, where a shooting at a strip mall parking lot escalated into a fatality and left three others injured. The area, sectioned off by crime scene tape near Bar II, bore silent witness to the preceding chaos, evidenced by the many evidence markers placed there. According to LOCAL12, the number of markers indicated a significant amount of gunfire.
Chief Earl Nelson of the Middletown Police provided details to FOX19 NOW, stating that their department received reports of the incident around 2:44 a.m. First responders found two individuals with gunshot wounds and immediately transported them to Atrium Medical Center. A third victim was also taken to Atrium and died shortly thereafter, while a fourth person sought medical attention at Kettering Middletown Health.
As the investigation continued under the morning's breaking light, detectives pieced together the circumstances of the tragedy.
