An Orlando man, 26, met his end early today after his motorcycle collided with a pickup making a U-turn on Sand Lake Road. The deadly incident occurred around 12:15 a.m. near Sand Lake Pointe Loop, north of State Road 528. According to ClickOrlando, a 43-year-old from New Mexico, piloting a 2024 Ram 3500 with a trailer in tow, initiated the U-turn that proved fatal.
The motorcycle, traveling westbound, struck the trailer's right side. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the pickup truck did not sustain injuries and cooperated with officials at the scene.
Following the accident, the westbound segment of Sand Lake Road was closed but has since been reopened, per FHP authorities. WFTV's coverage confirms active investigations by troopers into the crash circumstances, although the specific cause remains under scrutiny at this time.
