To bolster community health and safety, the Pembroke Pines Fire and Rescue Department is joining forces with Memorial Healthcare System for a comprehensive kickoff event, slated for June 21. According to an announcement posted on the City of Pembroke Pines official website, the free program titled "One City at a Time" is poised and ready to provide Pembroke Pines residents with a suite of health-related resources.
The event, open to the public and catering to all ages, will take place at the Charles F. Dodge City Center between 10 am and 2 pm. Attendees are promised a day brimming with health and safety information, training sessions, and the unveiling of initiatives like "Save the Brain". The program is highlighted by half-hourly free sessions on CPR/AED use, techniques to "Stop the Bleed", and raising awareness of stroke and heart attack symptoms—in a partnership with the local Fire Department that speaks to saving lives.
Moreover, the day is set to include more than just education. Families can expect free hot lunches, children's games, music, and an array of activities. Among the first 300 families, there will be a distribution of food, and on-site mobile units will cater to health screenings and nutritional counseling. According to the same city announcement, attendees will also find primary care physicians accessible for consultations, no appointments necessary.
After this one-day kickoff event, Memorial Healthcare System plans to extend its outreach, with pediatric and adult mobile units setting up in various Pembroke Pines locations two days a week. For a consecutive eight weeks, services will remain free of charge to ensure everyone has the opportunity to benefit. The specific locations for these services remain under wraps but will be revealed at the event, encouraging community members to get involved and stay informed.
