The Pittsburg Police Department is requesting the community's help in identifying a suspect involved in the vandalism of patrol vehicles. According to a social media post by the department, the incident occurred around 5:29 PM on Davi Avenue. A witness reported seeing a Hispanic male on a silver and black bicycle, wearing a fluorescent green long-sleeve shirt, as he allegedly threw large rocks at the windshields of vehicles, specifically the MLK and Pittsburg High School Resource Patrol cars.
Surveillance footage captured the perpetrator entering an unsecured rear lot from Power Avenue and committing the damaging act. Despite the availability of video evidence and the efforts of officers to review city surveillance and canvas the area, the individual remains at large. Residents and local business owners are being asked to examine their security footage from around the time of the incident that might aid in identifying the suspect, as per the Pittsburg Police Department.
In their ongoing effort to apprehend the suspect, they have directly appealed to the public. "We are asking anyone who lives nearby or was in the area to check home or business security footage around that time," stated the Pittsburg Police Department's social media post, illustrating the potential value of community involvement in police work. Those with pertinent information or footage are encouraged to contact Detective Simpson at (925) 252-4805.
