The seasonal treat for locavores is just around the corner as the City of Plymouth has announced the opening of its weekly summer farmers market, ready to kick off on June 18. A visit to Parker's Lake Playfield, located at 15500 County Road 6, between 2 and 6 p.m. every Wednesday through October 1, will be a chance to grab fresh produce, prepared foods, and handcrafted items directly from local vendors, the City of Plymouth noted.
If you’re looking to avoid plastic, keep in mind that not all vendors accept credit cards, so be sure to bring some cash. The City of Plymouth announced that the market will continue to offer food support benefits for participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). EBT cardholders can swing by the City of Plymouth booth for tokens that are as good as cash at participating vendor stalls.
Furthermore, community outreach gets a booth of its own at the market. Local charitable and nonprofit organizations can snag a spot for fundraising or educational purposes. Interested groups should call Recreation Supervisor Ann Mosack at 763-509-5214 or email at [email protected], and do so at least two weeks ahead of the date they're eyeing, as stated on the City's website.
