A Polk County jailer was arrested for DUI and later terminated from his job, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. Khalil Alexander Rembert, who had worked with the sheriff’s office for two years, was arrested early Saturday morning in Dallas, Georgia.
FOX 5 Atlanta reported that the Dallas Police Department stopped Rembert around 1:20 a.m. for failing to maintain his lane. After conducting field sobriety tests, officers charged him with DUI less safe-alcohol, DUI per se-alcohol, and failure to maintain lane.
Following the arrest, Rembert was fired for "multiple policy violations stemming from his arrest," the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement obtained by FOX 5 Atlanta.
According to 11Alive, Sheriff Moats confirmed that Rembert's termination was directly related to the arrest. There is currently no public information about Rembert’s legal representation. The sheriff’s office has not released further details on the policy violations involved.
