A Port St. Lucie man has been apprehended following an incident where he allegedly entered a woman's home and photographed her after she had just exited the shower. Darrian James Baker, the 27-year-old suspect, was arrested within 24 hours of the crime, reported the Port St. Lucie Police Department (PSLPD).

The unwanted intrusion occurred on Monday morning at a home on SE Gidding Road when the female resident was confronted by Baker taking her photograph post-shower. According to CBS12, the victim's scream prompted him to flee the scene, awaking her husband who also spotted Baker as he escaped. Meanwhile, a second victim recognized the suspect trying to enter her vehicle and home upon reviewing surveillance footage after seeing a related social media post. Identified as Baker, this suspect had attempted to enter a parked vehicle and another residence on SE Deming Ave., where doors being locked, thwarted his attempts.

Baker, who had recently relocated from Miami, matched the suspect's description obtained after officers canvassed the area. Found at 1692 SE Portillo Road, PSLPD discovered two cell phones and a shirt that matched the description from surveillance footage—a white shirt with "Don't Give Up" emblazoned on it. The evidence linking him to the crimes led to his immediate arrest.

Charges against Baker include one count each of the burglary of an occupied dwelling, attempted burglary of an occupied dwelling, and attempted burglary of an unoccupied conveyance. Currently held at the St. Lucie County Jail without bond, Baker awaits the next steps in his legal proceedings. Efforts by detectives and leads provided by engaged community members were instrumental in quickly apprehending him. PSLPD's statement conveys gratitude toward the community for quickly coming forward with information leading to this arrest.

As an ongoing investigation, the authorities encourage anyone with additional information to contact the Port St. Lucie Police Department at 772-871-5001 or through Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 800-273-8477.
