A new playground at Flat Shoals Park in Riverdale will officially open on Saturday. Commissioner Gail Hambrick will lead a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. at 1915 Flat Shoals Road.
According to an announcement from the Clayton County government website, following the ceremony, the county will host a Movie Under the Stars event featuring a screening of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend both the ribbon cutting and the outdoor movie.
The event is part of an effort to expand public recreational spaces and provide opportunities for family-friendly activities. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for the movie.
Commissioner Hambrick is expected to speak on the role of public spaces in the community. Both events are open to the public and are intended to offer a space for residents to gather and enjoy local amenities.
