A Riverton man is now facing a manslaughter charge for the shooting death of his 18-year-old stepson. Joseph Le Page Lee, 46, has been charged with one count of second-degree felony manslaughter alongside four counts of class A misdemeanor reckless endangerment, as reported by KUTV.
Further details reveal a tragic scene where Lee attempted to administer CPR to the victim, Haven Alexander McBride, after the shooting occurred. Surveillance video inside the home shows McBride falling to the floor immediately after a gunshot was heard, with Lee taking nearly four minutes to begin CPR. This account was corroborated by KSL, who detailed that Lee had mistakenly picked up the wrong firearm, one of his two Glock 19Xes, before the incident unfolded.
The situation escalated when Lee, under the belief that the gun was cleared, discharged it and struck McBride. In a sobering moment caught on video, Lee is seen giving his stepson a blessing before following instructions to perform CPR as directed by a 911 operator and his stepdaughter. KSLTV reported that police say Lee performed CPR until emergency responders arrived.
