In an act blending compassion with community service, Rome Police Department's PFC Evan Roden recently became a rescuer to a kitten in an unusual situation. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Roden was dispatched following a report of a kitten hanging by a string from a bicycle in Rome, Georgia. The officer's quick response ensured the kitten was safely freed from its precarious entanglement.
The story took a heartwarming turn when Roden decided to not only save the kitten but also to provide it a permanent refuge. "Not all superheroes wear capes… some wear a badge and improvise as zookeepers when duty calls," the Rome Police Department shared on their Facebook page, as communicated by 11Alive. It further expressed gratitude towards the officer for stepping up to extend his household to include the newly rescued feline.
The incident not only sheds light on the varied nature of calls that law enforcement responds to but also the empathy that officers like Roden bring to their job. "Sometimes the call isn’t about catching bad guys — it’s about catching kittens," the Rome Police Department quipped, as noted by 11Alive.
