A tragic incident unfolded in the Holly Hills neighborhood when a 53-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle, which resulted in a crash and ultimately her death. According to a Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department report, the accident occurred on Saturday, at around 3:49 PM.
The police, upon receiving a distress call, rushed to the scene at 3717-3719 Bates Avenue. They found a grey Cadillac CTS that had rammed into the front stairs, with the driver sustaining serious injuries. Despite the quick response by emergency services, taking her to the hospital immediately, her wounds proved fatal, and she later succumbed to her injuries. Crashing against the front stairs, the Cadillac's driver was in critical condition by the time the first responders arrived.
As of now, the SLMPD's Accident Reconstruction Unit is actively trying to piece together the events leading to the accident. Investigating officers are yet to determine what caused the woman's vehicle to veer off course and crash in such a manner. Pending autopsy results and mechanical inspections are expected to provide further insights into this unfortunate event's causation.
