A tragic accident unfolded on Thursday night in Salem, resulting in the death of a 33-year-old motorcyclist, Jesse Wadley. The Marion County Sheriff's Office reported that Wadley was taken to Salem Hospital following the crash but succumbed to his injuries. The collision, which took place on Lancaster Drive Southeast at Glenwood Drive Southeast, involved Wadley's motorcycle and another vehicle.
According to a statement obtained by KPTV, the incident occurred just before 10 p.m., prompting emergency crews to quickly respond. Preliminary investigations by the sheriff's office indicated that Wadley was traveling at high speed before the crash happened. The driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene and has cooperated with the ongoing investigation.
While Wadley's fate was unfortunately sealed by the accident, the crash also resulted in another hospitalization. A passenger from the other involved vehicle was injured and taken to receive medical care, although the extent of their injuries remains unclear. The Marion County Sheriff's Office has not released further details about the passenger's condition, as noted in a Salem Reporter news release.
No arrests have been made in the aftermath of the crash, according to KOIN. Sgt. Jeremy Schwab, spokesman for the Marion County Sheriff's Office, confirmed that the driver remained at the location and "cooperated with investigators."
