The Salt Lake City Police have mobilized the community in a search effort after issuing a Silver Alert for 76-year-old Francisca Torres, who was reported missing early yesterday morning. Torres, who is known to be living with dementia, was last seen at her home near 800 West Montague Avenue around 4 a.m. yesterday. Authorities have expressed concern due to her condition and believe she may be traveling on foot.
According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, Torres was last spotted wearing light blue jeans, a green sweater, sandals, and blue socks. The specific description has been disseminated in a bid to help members of the public identify her. The police have urged anyone with information on her whereabouts to call 9-1-1.
The Silver Alert program is a critical component in the community safety net, serving as a broadcast system for vulnerable adults who go missing, particularly those with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, or other mental disabilities. This alert system leverages the eyes and ears of the general public along with law enforcement agencies to ensure a swift and focused response in locating the missing individuals.
