An early morning blaze swiftly devoured a house in a Salt Lake City neighborhood, with firefighters battling the flames on Sunday.
According to FOX 13, the Salt Lake City Fire Department received the call around 7:50 a.m. and rushed to respond at the residential location of 836 W. 400 North. The situation escalated quickly enough to necessitate a second alarm, primarily to safeguard nearby structures from the aggressive fire.
Despite the intensity of the flames, firefighters were rapidly able to confirm that the house was vacant at the time. As reported by ABC4, the home was declared a total loss. However, their prompt action ensured that no other homes or structures were harmed.
Concerns for the firefighters' safety were also top of mind, for the blaze presented not just a threat of destruction but also a physical toll. "Due to the heat, firefighters would have to rotate monitoring the burn to avoid heat exhaustion," noted a spokesperson, per KSLTV. While no injuries were reported in the incident, the heat of the fire posed a significant risk to the responders at the scene.
