Following an intensive investigation by Salt Lake City Police Department’s Gang Unit and partner agencies, four individuals have been arrested in connection with a West Point community shooting last month. The Salt Lake City Police Department reported the arrests on Friday, providing the names of those apprehended: Bryan Jimenez Benitez, Gerardo Bejar Reynoso, Jose Eduardo Romero Bojorquez, all 22, and Bryan Olvera Alvarez, aged 18.

The incident that prompted the arrests took place on May 25, when more than 20 rounds were reportedly fired in a residential neighborhood, striking vehicles and putting bystanders at risk. It's believed to have been an escalation following a violent assault at a home near 1800 West Shannon Circle. The situation deteriorated when individuals from rival gang factions arrived, leading to shots being fired as they left the scene. Notably, despite the gunfire, no one was reported injured in the exchange.

Investigators executed multiple search warrants and, based on the evidence, they booked three of the suspects into Salt Lake County Metro Jail on Friday, June 13, with charges including aggravated assault and felony discharge of a firearm. Alvarez was detained later, on June 25, facing 29 counts that comprised several charges such as riot, unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, and weapon possession offenses.
