A routine traffic stop by Colma law enforcement led to an unexpected discovery last Friday, when a vehicle was pulled over at the intersection of Junipero Serra Boulevard and Colma Boulevard for a traffic violation. According to a social media post from the Colma Police Department, an officer detected the smell of freshly burnt marijuana emanating from the inside of the car as he approached to speak with the occupants, a man and a woman.
The male driver, a 26-year-old San Francisco resident, was found to be under pre-trial general supervision with search terms from the San Francisco Sheriff's Office. This led to a search of the vehicle, revealing two bags filled with large quantities of marijuana buds, dispensary packaging bags, and a digital scale. Additionally, a large amount of U.S. currency was discovered on the driver himself.
As a result of the search, the man was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of marijuana over one ounce, as detailed by the Colma Police Department's account. After booking, he received a citation and was released on his promise to appear in court to face the charges. This adds another story to Colma's "Misdemeanor Monday" series, which highlights various minor crimes and police interactions within the community.
