Attention Sevier County motorists: prepare for some slowdowns this weekend. The Tennessee Department of Transportation is rolling out its repaving project on a stretch of Interstate 40, which will likely lead to traffic delays during the evening and overnight hours. According to a social media post from the Sevierville Police Department, the repaving is scheduled for today, June 20 and tomorrow, June 21, running from 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. on both days.
Local authorities recommend that drivers plan accordingly for the anticipated delays. Not only are changes in traffic patterns expected, but drivers should also keep an eye out for slowed or stopped traffic, as well as the presence of workers and equipment that could impact travel times. "Motorists should be alert for changing traffic patterns, slowed/stopped traffic, and workers and equipment," the advisory warned. The proactive communication aims to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety of both the road crew and the traveling public through Sevier County this weekend.
