Attention Seward residents and commuters: Construction is underway at 24th and Franklin, disrupting traffic for the next few weeks. Starting June 9, crews began installing a new gas main along Franklin Avenue, according to CenterPoint Energy. Work is focused on the east sides of 24th and 25th Avenues South, where they intersect with East Franklin Avenue.
The project is causing several disruptions in the area. Northbound traffic is being detoured from its usual route, and the east sidewalks along 24th and 25th Avenues South are closed to pedestrians. Street parking near the construction zone is temporarily prohibited.
However, residents will retain access to their homes during the construction period. Once this phase wraps up, the construction crew will move their operation eastward, setting sights on the intersection of East Franklin Avenue and Seabury Avenue, as per CenterPoint Energy.
