A blaze that erupted yesterday in Ramona has spurred an investigation by the Sheriff's Bomb/Arson unit. The fire quickly engulfed an abandoned residence before spreading to nearby properties.
The initial spark occurred around 6:00 PM on Casteel Lane, in the 1600 block, according to a release by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Firefighters from CAL FIRE/San Diego County responded swiftly, working to contain the flames and prevent further destruction to adjacent homes.
The vacant house at the fire's origin sustained substantial damage, as did certain structures and landscaping on two neighboring lots. Despite the severity of the fire, officials reported that no injuries occurred to either the firefighters on the scene or the deputies.
