South Fulton Police Department is actively seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect accused of drawing a firearm on a Lyft driver in a disturbing episode last month, as detailed by dashcam footage. This incident, which brings to the forefront the perilous rideshare drivers may face, took place on May 18 around 4:10 p.m. near the intersection of Big Boat Drive and Stone Bay Drive, according to police statements. The suspect, believed to be a juvenile based on the investigation and described as wearing a khaki-colored button-up shirt, appears clearly in the video, which the authorities are hoping will lead to his identification.
The images captured by the dashcam have been released in hopes that community members can aid in the search. The suspect has a short haircut adding to his profile, yet despite these efforts and the clarity of the images, his identity remains a mystery, as he blends back into the youth populace. FOX 5 Atlanta reported on the plea by officials for public assistance.
Detective Matthew Principe has been designated as the point of contact for any potential leads. The department emphasizes the importance of community-driven safety and urges residents with information to come forward by contacting the South Fulton Police Department. "Your assistance is vital in helping us keep our community safe," the SFPD said, in a statement obtained by WSB-TV.
