St. Charles Parish residents and commuters should prepare for scheduled road closures due to the Parish Road Maintenance Program's summer asphalt resurfacing initiative. The resurfacing will involve patching, milling, and paving efforts designed to preserve roadway integrity and smoothness. The St. Charles Parish Government has released a detailed schedule of the affected streets over the next two weeks, recommending motorists plan accordingly to avoid delays.
Starting today, June 17, Schexnaydre Lane from LA 48 to the dead end in Destrehan will undergo patching, with flaggers on site to direct traffic. Today will also see paving on Paul Fredrick Street between Hackberry Street and Canal Street in Luling, announced by officials earlier this week. Flaggers will be present to help vehicles navigate through the construction zones. The work will extend to parts of Schexnaydre Lane, continuing tomorrow, June 18 and 19, with similar traffic arrangements in place.
Drivers should note further closures, including Gassen Street from Hackberry Street to the railroad tracks in Luling, which will be closed for paving tomorrow. June 18 and 19. Subsequent road work will continue through the week, with Schexnaydre Lane reentering the rotation for patching from June 20 to June 21. According to the official notice, Adams Street between Killona Drive and Julia Street in Killona is next, scheduled for closure for patching on June 23 and 24 with corresponding traffic measures implemented.
Moving into the final week of the announced schedule, Killona Drive from LA 18 to Julia Street and North Oak Court from LA 52 to the dead end in Luling will experience patching and milling respectively on June 25. "There will be flaggers," confirmed the St. Charles Parish government's release, ensuring safety and organization for motorists and construction workers. On June 26, patches will restore the integrity of Badeaux Lane East in Bayou Gauche, and East Heather Drive in Luling undergoes milling.
The work continues beyond the midweek, with Railroad Drive in Killona and East Heather Drive in Luling scheduled for patching and milling from June 27 to June 28, respectively. The parish government cautions that all scheduling is subject to weather conditions. Notably, construction also includes the commencement of Kerry’s Pointe ramp lift on May 5, which promises to impede traffic between Badeaux Lane and Kerry’s Pointe for several weeks.
Further disruptions can be expected at Ormond Center Court in Destrehan, currently obstructed from 150 Ormond Center Court to 3001 Ormond Blvd due to ongoing road works. Detours are established, allowing vehicle traffic to navigate around the construction site safely.
