East Point police responded to a traffic accident on Wednesday that quickly turned into a criminal investigation after a stabbing victim was found.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, officers were called to the intersection of Washington Road and Camp Creek Parkway for a reported accident. At the scene, someone claimed another person in a nearby car was armed. However, police discovered that the person making the claim had actually stabbed another occupant in the chest.
East Point Police said the victim was conscious, alert, and breathing and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital by East Point Fire/Rescue and Grady EMS, as reported by 11Alive. The suspect was taken into custody, though their identity has not been released.
The East Point Police Investigative Division is continuing to look into the incident. The motive for the stabbing and circumstances leading up to it are still under investigation.
