Jalonie Jenkins, 25, has been apprehended by law enforcement following allegations of fatally stabbing his two sisters in Streamwood, police confirmed. Jenkins was taken into custody in Downers Grove on Sunday night, as reported by WGN-TV. The tragic incident occurred at a townhome on the 1600 block of McKool Avenue, where the victims, Janiya Jenkins, 21, and Eyani Jones, 10, were discovered last Wednesday night.
No information regarding the precise nature of the charges Jenkins might face has been released as of yet. A vehicle associated with Jenkins was found at the Redmond Recreational Complex in Bensenville, approximately 15 miles from where the stabbing took place, according to WGN-TV. Despite searches in the vicinity, including a nearby pond, he wasn't located immediately after the murders.
As detailed by ABC7 Chicago, a neighbor and family friend of the victims stated she became aware of the situation after being alerted by the victim's 7-year-old brother. He approached her for help, leading her to the horrifying scene. The neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said, "I walked up the stairs and I saw blood and stuff everywhere," and upon discovering the appalling sight added, "I see the oldest girl laid there, I see the little girl she's laid out. I'm on the phone with the mom. I'm telling her, 'Oh my God your kids are gone.'"
The 10-year-old Eyani had recently started summer break and was on a call with her friend, the daughter of the aforementioned neighbor, when a loud commotion was overheard, and shortly after, the tragic event unfolded. Jasmine Marshall, a friend of the elder sister Janiya, told WGN-TV, "She was a good friend, like a friend I’ve never had."
