According to authorities, the disturbance at the store not only involved theft but also obstructed access to a nearby hospital, jeopardizing patients in need of urgent medical care.
The Surprise Police Department was clear in their message about the situation, stating, "This reckless criminal behavior directly interfered with access to a nearby hospital, affecting patients needing emergency medical care. Let us be absolutely clear — The Surprise Police Department has zero tolerance for criminal activity," in a news release obtained by FOX 10. The department's investigators are actively working to quickly identify, arrest, and prosecute the culprits, drawing upon surveillance footage, witness statements, and digital evidence.
There were reports from witnesses at the scene suggesting the looters were shouting politically motivated comments during the incident, as mentioned in coverage by ABC15.
