
The Swansea Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 2100 block of Caseyville Avenue. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Bernard Oranika, was found deceased at the scene. According to an update shared on Swansea Police Department's Facebook page, police stated the incident is believed to have been a targeted incident involving individuals who knew each other, and that Oranika was known to the suspect.
Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and conduct interviews as part of the ongoing investigation. The Illinois State Police assisted Swansea Police in processing the crime scene. Oranika’s death was confirmed by the St. Clair County Coroner's Office, as per the Swansea Police Department.
Police have stated they are not looking for additional suspects at this time. The investigation is being conducted in coordination with the St. Clair County State's Attorney’s Office, and further updates will be shared as they become available.
