
A tragic incident unfolded in Chicago’s Calumet Heights neighborhood on Tuesday, where 18-year-old Johnnie Jackson Jr. was shot and later pronounced dead after his vehicle struck another car and a house. The Chicago Sun-Times reports that Jackson was driving a Chevrolet around 3 p.m. in the 2800 block of East 93rd Street when the collision occurred.
Upon their arrival at the chaotic scene, police discovered Jackson with a gunshot wound in his back. Despite being quickly transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, the young man's life could to be saved, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. No suspects have been detained in connection with this act of violence as of yet, leaving a sense of urgency to track down those responsible.
Confirmation of Jackson's identity was provided by the Cook County medical examiner’s office. As investigators canvass the area, details on what led to the shooting and subsequent crash are still being pieced together. An interview with WGNTV indicated that area detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the teen's untimely death.
