Terrebonne Parish motorists should be aware of upcoming traffic changes. Beginning today at 10 a.m., the Boudreaux Canal Bridge on LA 56—affecting both eastbound and westbound lanes—will be fully closed for roadwork. Located between Vin Street and Tave Drive, the bridge will undergo necessary repairs requiring complete closure of this section. According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, drivers who typically use this route will need to find alternate routes during the closure period.
Local authorities have provided detour guidance for motorists affected by the bridge closure. Southbound traffic from Houma will be rerouted to LA 57 South, while northbound drivers are advised to take LA 56 to LA 57 North to bypass the closed section. While these detours may extend travel times, they are intended to maintain traffic flow and accessibility during the bridge repair period. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and consider leaving earlier to account for potential delays due to increased traffic on the alternate routes. Officials have yet to announce an expected completion date.
