Malachi Chaney, the 19-year-old son of actor Tray Chaney, is out of the ICU after being seriously injured during an EF-2 tornado in Henry County, Georgia. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, Malachi was thrown approximately 300 feet from his family's home during the storm and sustained multiple fractures.
Tray Chaney, known for his role as Poot on HBO’s The Wire, told WWNYTV that his son is undergoing extensive treatment and will need to relearn how to walk. He added that there are several steps doctors must complete before Malachi can be discharged from the hospital.
Despite his injuries, Malachi celebrated his 19th birthday in the hospital with family and friends. The tornado destroyed 13 structures, including the Chaney family's home.
Neighbors helped search for Malachi immediately after the storm, and a GoFundMe has been launched to support the family during recovery.
