Three individuals are safe after their boat capsized near Bird Island off the coast of Marion, according to local authorities. Marion emergency services were alerted around 12:46 PM to an overturned boat with three people in the waters of Buzzards Bay, according to The Boston Globe.

The Harbormaster Department located and rescued the individuals, who were all wearing life vests. As per the Boston News 25, the water temperature was approximately 65.3 degrees. The boaters were brought aboard the Harbormaster Patrol Boat and received first aid. Two were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Marion EMS and Fire Department assisted at the Marion Town Dock, and the Mattapoisett Harbormaster Department helped recover belongings from the water. Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
