In a recent law enforcement operation, three teenagers were apprehended in the Carr Square neighborhood of St. Louis following a ShotSpotter alert and reports of individuals brandishing firearms. St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) detailed the Friday evening events that culminated in a foot pursuit and the eventual arrest of the trio, all aged 17.
The encounter began after a 9:15 PM call tipped off authorities to the presence of armed individuals near 20th and O'Fallon streets, the ShotSpotter activations in that vicinity corroborating the presence of gunfire, upon arrival officers found a group matching the description, a pedestrian check was initiated, that's when the chase ensued—as the youths attempted to evade police. The SLMPD officers were able to quickly overtake the fleeing suspects despite their efforts to escape, leading to the capture of the teenagers, and the recovery of their weapons, including a modified firearm with an auto sear.
Among the items retrieved was a discarded firearm, which was discovered thanks to the assistance of K9 Admiral. This detail was highlighted in the official account of the event provided by the police St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's release. Following the apprehension, the three juveniles were taken to the Juvenile Building for processing.
